While DirecTV provides exclusive coverage of these events, the Dish Network service offers regional sports networks programming. Both services offer individual channels, as well as a wide variety of packages. The availability of local television channels is included in DirectTV's basic package, whereas Dish Network makes this optional at an extra cost. XM Radio is included in DirecTV's special package, while Dish Network provides the Sirius Music package. When considering how all of these factors fit in with your entertainment needs, you can select those options which are the most important to you. After deciding your entertainment priorities, the next factor to consider is the price of the two services. For the packages currently being offered, there is quite a difference in cost. While both services presently have a limited-time offer of an additional premium channel for three months free of charge, the basic rate for DishNetwork is $19.99 per month and DirecTV's basic monthly rate is $49.99. However, both services are superb and frequently have limited-time pricing specials for new customers, so once you decide which one is more suited to your viewing habits, watch for the current specials and promotions for new customers.
